Do we book our holidays in the Summer or in the Winter?

This is a tricky one, you may be thinking of the middle months. The earlier the booking the more sense it makes to make these early bookings. Now some people say that summer is when Tour Operators get the most enquiries about holidays. However this is not exactly true.

Summer may be the time that most of us embark on holidays, but it certainly isn’t the most popular for bookings. It is clear from looking at searches online and bookings, that about mid summer sees a spike in bookings. There are many factors that will effect whether or not you book a last minute holiday, and it usually comes down to the weather in your local area. Although we all like to book in the first two months, as trends suggest, there is also always a spike in interest in summer for a small amount of time.

People don’t like to book late, and straight after the Christmas holiday season, in January bookings go mad. Booking these holidays this early does make more sense than we would normally presume. This gives you the time to sort out anything that you need to, like getting time off work. Also if things go wrong, you can quite easily cancel your holiday in the near future. Summer holidays can be notoriously hard to book, and leaving it too late even more so, so people like to book early.

This is the time when Tour Operators make there most, and gives us and them a general outline of how well they are going to do in the year. The Beginning of the year is the most important part for Tour Operators, this greatly influences the rest of the year. The only times when they capitalise after a bad start is in the summer, for late holiday deals, or at Christmas time, for the best possible Christmas holidays.
